A good weekend all round

The flag was flying high for Yaxley Runners over the weekend, with some great times in the Oakley 20. Looks like everyone’s marathon training is going well.

Well done too to the ladies who took park in the Richmond Park half marathon.

Closer to home and we had a good turnout at the Thorney 10k and Fun Run. The juniors led the way with Charlie Evans finishing 1st and Leah Keagan 3rd girl. In the seniors, Rosalyn Loutit was first in her age category and led the way for the ladies team to finish 2nd.

Muddy Mogridge leads Yaxley home in Frostbite

James Mogridge continued to impress in muddy conditions by improving on his 5th place at Bourne Woods with a stunning 4th at Hinchingbrooke Park. Only one place away from equalling the Yaxley Runners best ever position. Mogridge inspired a great team performance to finish 8th on the day equalling this season’s previous best result. Mike Morley came home next in 33rd to cap a great season, completing all six races. Ros Loutit led the ladies with a season’s best 133rd. All ten scorers were home in the top 166. The other scoring team members were Simon Perkins, Hugh Burton, Kevin Peel, Gavin Farrow, Adrian Green, Karen Ives and Claire Piercy.

The juniors also had an excellent day finishing sixth in this race and the overall championship. Charlie Evans and Ben Tudor with brilliant performances in 9th and 11th respectively. What a season!

No stopping the 14 in 14 boys!

Well done to Gavin, Ian, Matt and Gary who completed the Valentine’s Stratford Marathon, their 2nd marathon of the year. By all accounts a somewhat muddy affair on a windy day. Keep going boys, only 12 more each to do and surely they can’t get any harder than this one!

The Juniors finished 9th with Charlie Evans the first Yaxley boy to finish and Rhiannon Loutit the first Yaxley girl.

Magnificent Mogridge sets the mark at the Frostbite

James Mogridge claimed Yaxley’s first top ten finish in recent years with a brilliant run completing in 9th place. The team also finished a creditable 9th on the day with our top 7 finishers all in the first 90 to cross the line. Following Mogridge home were Mike Morley (also claimed his highest finish in 26th), Simon Perkins (equalled his best in 48th), Chris Ruthe (on debut), Simon Hunt, Mike Branston and Hugh Burton. For the ladies Ros Loutit led the way followed home by Claire Piercy and Sue Harlow.

The juniors had set the tone with a brilliant 5th place. Charlie Evans also claiming his best finish yet with a stunning 6th place. Now positioned sixth in the league table the juniors have a chance to close out the season (if they stay 6th or better) in their highest place since 1993 when they were 4th.
